About Brenda
Brenda Fernandez is the Editorial Manager at Sell Chicago Properties and the author of every article published in our news, blog, and insights sections. A 2026 graduate of Aurora University, she brings a longtime passion for real estate and for giving the neighborhoods our clients live in the best marketing, public relations updates, and community updates she can produce.
Brenda came to Chicagoland as a child from Guadalajara, Mexico with her family and has been a longtime resident ever since. Her family is well known in the Will County community: her father, Robert Velasco, is a carpenter and cabinet installer whose work has put the family name on job sites across the area. Brenda is bilingual in English and Spanish, which keeps our coverage readable for the full range of Chicagoland households we serve.
A family built around real estate
The Fernandez Velasco family is heavily involved in real estate. Brenda and her sister, Montserrat Fernandez Velasco, grew up with the same Guadalajara-to-Chicagoland story and split the work between them: Montserrat handles the brokerage and deal side as a licensed Illinois real estate agent, while Brenda leads editorial and marketing. The family's roots in the trades run through their father's carpentry and cabinet work, so property has always been the family business in one form or another.
What Brenda covers
Brenda researches and writes the neighborhood guides, market notes, and community updates that keep sellers and buyers informed before they make a move. If you have read a story on our news desk, a how-to on the blog, or an op-ed in insights, it carries her byline.
